In this extremely insightful look at human nature and the 10 key psychological motivators which drive our thoughts and behaviours, Brendan Burchard shows us how we have the capacity to transform our lives from flatlined to fully charged, where we are engaged, energetic and enthusiastic about what we're doing each and every day.
Burchard explains these 10 key motivators, or human drives, and then provides some specific strategies for activating each drive to measurably improve the quality of your life. His strategies collectively create a roadmap for lasting change, which you can travel at your own pace and in your own way.
Whether you feel trapped in your present existence or comfortable yet aware something is missing, this book will help you understand why you feel the way you do and what you can do to change how you feel. Living a charged life is possible for anyone, no matter what their personal situation. It's a matter of conscious choice, along with developing the right strategic mindset.
I highly recommend this book, and suggest that it be reread on an annual basis. It is highly empowering, for it helps you to understand what may be holding you back in life and what you can do to move forward.

Your Truth is Calling discusses how emotions affect self image and how they can lead us to perceive our self destructive behaviour as quite logical and rational. It outlines a number of emotional blocks to self awareness and shows that understanding at an emotional level empowers us to create positive and lasting change by using emotions to think (pro-active) as opposed to thinking with emotions (reactive).
Mental clutter and immature thinking patterns are examined and shown to be merely shaped habits rather than reality or "truth". The fallacy of discipline and will power is addressed and the importance of mindset is instead identified as key to bringing about lasting positive change.
Finally, our spirituality and self awareness allow us to find our inner truth within ourselves (independent of outside influences) and live it as a more meaningful, happier and clearer way of being, knowing and existing. This clarity of vision creates an experience of inner peace and tranquility as it empowers us to identify and fulfill our greatness potential.
Many self help books are somewhat obscure in nature, but this one is written using down to earth, plain English and references real world, practical examples we can all relate to. In fact, there is so much practical information packed into its 294 pages you'll have to go slowly to ensure you don't miss even one valuable point.
Your Truth is Calling is a self published text and can be ordered online at http://www.scottabel.com. Cost is $34.95 plus shipping and taxes. I have known Scott for several years and can personally vouch for the integrity of his site, so rest assured your credit card information is quite safe in his hands.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind looks at the root causes of success, mediocrity and failure and explains how we need to reset our money blueprint (how we've been conditioned to think and act when it comes to money) to create natural and automatic success. It demonstrates how our childhood influences shape our financial blueprint and how these influences lead to self defeating thoughts and habits.
After an in depth study of the way the various classes within society think, the author concluded that rich people think and act differently, and so to succeed you need to think and act like a rich person. The book outlines his 17 wealth development principles that show you how to reset your money blueprint so that you begin to think like a rich person and enjoy the resulting financial success.
T. Harv Eker's cut to the chase style tells it like it is, making it impossible to deny or ignore the truth. For me, each chapter was like a string of light bulbs going off and it opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't necessary like, but now have the knowledge and ability (and desire!) to change.
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is truly the missing link between desire for success and achievement of it and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their current financial and/or life situation in general. The thing I liked best about this book is that the principle of resetting your blueprint can apply to any and all aspects of your life, not just money.
The most important lesson I learned from Secrets of the Millionaire Mind was how to step back and look at any situation from a more analytical point of view. Now when something's not working instead of getting emotional I ask myself:
- How am I currently seeing the situation?
- Why am I seeing it this way?
- What do I need to do to ensure success?
- How do I change my way of thinking so I can do what needs to be done?
I can't say enough good things about this book and I highly recommend you place it at the top of your reading list. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is available online at Chapters.ca. in hard cover format for $18.44 (as of September 2008).
